Canvas, paint
In this work, I commemorated my pregnancy with our third child.
It was wonderful to watch my two little girls establish a bond with their little sibling while still in the womb through constant hugs and caresses on my belly.
They made lasting impressions on the white clothes with blue paint from their everyday touches and hugs as they approached the little one.
Only small children are capable of such sincere, direct, and natural touch.
What did the baby experience from this? Who knows. The blurred spots and illegible handprints reflect her inner experiences. They connected with each other, merged together,
becoming tangled, inextricable experiences both between the siblings and between me and my children.
It is no coincidence that the prints were made in blue, as this color has been associated with motherhood since early Christian times. At that time, the production of blue dye was so expensive that it could only be used to paint the clothes of the most sacred mother, the Virgin Mary.
In art history, therefore, the color blue has been associated with the symbolism of motherhood for centuries.
