The fashion industry produces, artists create—both processes generate an endless amount of byproducts that are born as waste, and the world is slowly being flooded with objects.

This work of mine was inspired by the vast quantities of experimental knits that inevitably accumulate in workshops during the process of creating knitted objects. Contemplating the sculpture-installation created from them, which fills the entire space, we can reflect on our already visually overstimulated world, the textile industry’s environmentally burdensome overproduction, the chaos, and the beauty inherent within it.

Many knits require a great deal of time. The fabrics on display were all created on hand-operated flat knitting machines, bearing the traces of the lengthy, meditative, artisanal work spent on their creation, which imbues them with added meaning.
